Enterprise Uses for Twitter

10 Smart Enterprise uses for Twitter

The article I chose was a 10 Enterprise uses for Twitter, slide show, created by Kevin Casey from The Brainyard on October 13th, 2011.  Many companies may think that Twitter is a waste of time with fun and games, but this social networking engine has 200 million users.  This opens a huge world of people to market you company to future customers.  Twitter is very unique compared to Facebook in a sense that it involves a public form of conversations between people with limited space.  Each Tweet can only have up to 140 characters.  Twitter communication revolves around a dialogue, as if you are actually talking to someone in person.  This type of social engine is a great opportunity for companies to promote their business.
The slideshow gives 10 tools for enterprises to use in order to successfully market their company effectively.   The ten tools are:
  • ·      Generate Referrals
  • ·      Develop Strong Media Relationships
  • ·      Modernize Customer Service
  • ·      Recruit Top Talent
  • ·      Promote your Business and Yourself
  • ·      Communicate with Employees
  • ·      Improve your Social Media IQ
  • ·      Network With Industry Executives And Influencers
  • ·      Keep tabs on your Competitors
  • ·      Listen to what people are saying about you

Generating referrals involves take out the word “sales” because “referrals” has a more positive outlook and is more meaningful to the customer.  By using this tool you can develop mutual relationships with people instead of just selling.   Develop strong media relationships on Twitter because there are many active users from the media.  Twitter may also be used to recruit future employees in order to help your business corporate culture and profitable gain.  Promoting your business and yourself on twitter is important to increase you popularity and to increase sales to consumers.  Twitter is a great way to communicate with your employees and keep a second eye on them to make sure they are representing the company ethically.  Twitter is a special form of communication; therefore improving your social media IQ is key.  The hash tag, for example, is a way to enhance your tweet with a powerful word.  Networking with industry executives will help develop Rolodex with people in the industry and keep you up to date with news that is going on.  Twitter is a great way to keep tabs on your competitors and could possibly help your company become more innovative.  Listening to what people are saying about you on Twitter is a smart way to see what people think of your business.  This will also improve your company’s possible need for change or success.
All and all this was a very good article and can give business an edge in their industry.  All these uses are good and can help any enterprises improve their company and gain more customers in the long run.  Twitter is now very popular today and I uses the network a lot, which is why I chose this slide show.

  1. Evan I really enjoyed your twitter blog, it was very powerful and gave me a better business idea of how to use twitter. I recently made a twitter because of its popularity and ability to see new things happening quickly. I agree that businesses that utilize twitter and utilize it the right way can gain profits better then ever. It is a huge media source that millions of people go on daily. Many companies promote on it and do give aways. This pleases the customers and helps them get their name out there. Evan do you use twitter? If so do you like when people tweet a lot or does it give them or their business a bad name? Many businesses use twitter as a recruiting tool, so it is beneficial for someone who wants to be employed to have a twitter. Do you know anyone or have you found jobs through twitter?
